FAQ

Here are some of the most common questions we’re asked about See Shell Swimming — if you can’t find what you’re looking for, just get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan-managed can claim NDIS funding. If your plan includes goals around water safety, physical activity, or community participation, our private swimming lessons can be funded through your NDIS budget.

If you are:

  • Self-managed – You simply pay us directly, and then claim the cost back from the NDIS.

  • Plan-managed – We invoice your plan manager, and they handle payment for you.

At this stage, we are not a registered NDIS provider, so we cannot directly invoice the NDIS for participants whose funding is NDIS-managed.

If you’re unsure how to claim your lessons, contact the NDIS or speak to your plan manager.

No – lessons must be held in your own private pool (or another privately-owned pool you have permission to use). Our insurance only covers private pool settings, and public pools generally don’t allow external instructors to operate on-site.

We work with children from 6 months through to around 12 years. Lessons are tailored to your child’s age, comfort level, and learning style.

For babies and toddlers under 3, we require a parent or guardian join in to support comfort and connection. For older children, you just need to be poolside during the lesson.

Light rain is fine, but lessons will be rescheduled if there’s thunder, lightning, or unsafe conditions.

Please make sure the pool is clean, safe, and heated to a comfortable temperature (around 28–30°C for younger swimmers). Have towels ready and goggles if your child uses them.

Even if your child isn’t ready to get in the water, I’ll use the lesson time to get to know them and help them feel comfortable around me and the pool. It’s quite common for some children to need a lesson or two before they feel ready to jump in.
